Visit Our Tsleil-Waututh Nation Activation Site at the FIFA Fan Festival™

We are thrilled to welcome the world to experience our səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation)’s activation site at Hastings Park during the FIFA Fan Festival™ in Vancouver, from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Step into a traditional səlilwətaɬ village, highlighted by a majestic cedar longhouse façade and a Chief Dan George canoe.

Come immerse yourself in our rich culture, learn about our territory, stewardship, governance, and economic growth, while enjoying storytelling from our Knowledge Keepers and watching local artists bring their creative passion to life.

Here is what you can expect to see:

  • A səlilwətaɬ canoe and architecture that reflect a traditional village site
  • Carvers, drum makers, and weavers showcasing their craft in real time
  • Storytelling
  • Unique giveaways
  • Educational signage

Find our site near the Agrodome at the PNE grounds (Hastings Park).

Charlene Aleck, səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) staff member and Tsleil-Waututh Member, shares her vision for our FIFA Fan Festival™ site:

“When I was invited to participate in the FIFA Fan Festival™ site, I had a vision of doing a replica coastal village where you walk into the longhouse and on the side is the canoe shed and the back of the house is the longhouse facade. And then in the inside would be the carvers, the weavers, storytelling, drumming and singing, and the table for the children’s coloring sheets.

Then as you come by, you see all the information storyboards about our Tsleil-Waututh territory, our stewardship, our culture, and governance, as well as a 30 minute video loop on economic development, Treaty, Lands, and Resources, and our culture and language. We also have postcards to hand out to everyone stopping by.

What I’m most proud of regarding our Tsleil-Waututh Nation site is the fact that Tsleil-Waututh Members helped construct the structure, Tsleil-Waututh Members helped clothe us in designing custom jerseys, and Tsleil-Waututh Members are staffing the whole site for the whole time the World Cup is here.”

Watch our external social media channels Facebook, X, and Instagram for glimpses of our village site throughout the FIFA Fan Fest!
