Vancouver Canucks’ New First Nations Celebration Logo Designed by Tsleil-Waututh Artist Ocean Hyland

Congratulations to Tsleil-Waututh artist Ocean Hyland for designing the Vancouver Canucks’ new First Nations Celebration logo. Her beautiful work honours our Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s coastal connection, including the orca, the wolf, the eagle, and the raven.

As Ocean states: “For the main logo with the Canucks Orca design, I added Coast Salish elements and designs on the inside. For the secondary “patch design,” I transformed the Johnny Canuck design into an Indigenous fisherman with a fish spear.”

Her logo is displayed on official Canucks’ merchandise, available on the VanBase website.

The First Nations Celebration with the Vancouver Canucks will take place on March 12 and is vs Nashville Predators. This night honours Indigenous communities across the province and highlights our connections to the land and to hockey.
