Tsleil-Waututh Awarded Heritage BC Grant

Tsleil-Waututh has been successful in our grant application to acquire laboratory equipment and supplies to outfit our archaeological laboratory and repository. For decades, Tsleil-Waututh has been building capacity in our Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Program in the Treaty, Lands and Resources department. We recently installed repository cabinets and developed a laboratory space. The acquisition of laboratory equipment will allow us to better care for Tsleil-Waututh cultural heritage, conduct archaeology laboratory analyses in-house, provide training for the Tsleil-Waututh community, and reconnect the Tsleil-Waututh community members with their cultural history. This is a step in our continued efforts to regain sovereignty over Tsleil-Waututh cultural heritage.

BCAA’s Evolve E-Bike Share is expanding services to səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), and by extending service along Dollarton Highway into Parkgate and Deep Cove. The new partnership between səlilwətaɬ and Evolve focuses on improving access to transport for Members within the community and enhancing connections with neighbouring communities.

Every year, the summer comes with excitement for a busy field season. The days are longer, the plants are lush and full of life, and our animal friends are returning to show off their growing families. Each year we welcome back the salmon to our waters and on odd numbered years, we welcome our run of pink salmon back to the Indian River Watershed.
