Tsleil-Waututh Nation Releases 2023-24 Annual Report

In səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation)’s 2023-2024 Annual Report, we feature projects and stories from all corners of the Nation, highlighting how we continue to progress on key priorities around cultural, language, economic, and environmental revitalization, according to the needs of our Membership.

The report is divided into seven main sections to reflect on the priorities and initiatives of Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s Departments. Financial statements, prepared under Canadian public sector accounting standards and the TWN’s Financial Administration Law (2015) and approved by Chief and Council, include information on the Nation’s operational and financial performance for the previous fiscal year.

Our səlilwətaɬ community continues to grow and so does the need for programs and services. Review a snapshot of our Membership’s growth over the past decade and highlights on how we are building capacity within our community and Nation’s departments to meet evolving needs. By paddling together, we are strengthening the face of Tsleil-Waututh Nation on our traditional territory around səlilwət (Burrard Inlet) and securing a thriving future for the next seven generations.

On June 18, 2025, səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) and the City of Burnaby are signing a co-management agreement for Barnet Marine Park, which is located along the shores of səlilwət (Burrard Inlet). This agreement formalizes a partnership between Burnaby and səlilwətaɬ to jointly oversee the management and stewardship of the park.
səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) announces a new partnership with Portage Energy Group Inc., a Canadian leader in waste-to-fuel project development, to advance sustainable waste-to-fuel initiatives in a project called Salish Sky.
On June 6, 2025, səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) (“TWN”) announced that it has entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding for an agreement in principle to acquire the casino business and related real property interests at Hastings Racecourse & Casino (“Hastings”) in the City of Vancouver from Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (“Great Canadian Entertainment”).
səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation)’s Treaty, Lands and Resources (TLR) Department worked in partnership with the Kelp Rescue Initiative on a q̓am̓ (bull kelp) restoration project in səlilwət (Burrard Inlet) in 2023 and 2024.
