səlilwətaɬ Welcomes Robert Bartlett as Chief Administrative Officer

səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) is pleased to announce that Robert Bartlett (he/him) has joined səlilwətaɬ in the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective March 4, 2024.

“We are thrilled to welcome Robert’s skill set to the Nation,” stated səlilwətaɬ Chief and Council. “We feel that this will bring much positive change.”

Prior to joining Tsleil-Waututh Nation, Robert gained more than 20 years of experience working in local, provincial, and federal governments, leading teams in a variety of senior positions in both British Columbia and the United Kingdom.

Most recently, Robert was the Chief Administrative Officer for the District of West Vancouver where he was accountable for leading West Vancouver’s engagement with local First Nations and committing to the work of Truth and Reconciliation.

For 10 years, Robert has been a volunteer board member of the Missing Children’s Society of Canada (MCSC) and has served as Chairperson for seven years. Through his work, he has advanced the ability within MCSC to find and reunite families and created a dedicated service for missing Indigenous women and children.

Robert values effective communications in both day-to-day interactions and during challenging times and he prioritizes community and employee mental health, working to ensure public and personal safety are at the forefront of daily operations.

Robert is recognized as a leader with experience in risk management, agile project management, strategic planning, and stakeholder relations. He values collaboration to deliver exceptional public service with a focus on protecting public health and the environment and providing community members with access to information and resources.

“I’m very honoured to begin as Chief Administrative Officer at səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation),” said Robert Bartlett. “I very much look forward to supporting səlilwətaɬ Chief and Council in their desire to sustain and improve the quality of life in the community, to working closely with Directors and staff across six departments to serve the community in ways that are culturally safe and responsive to Members’ needs, and to advancing the priorities of səlilwətaɬ with external partners.”
