cə́ləm (eelgrass) transplanting work underway at Maplewood
Tsleil-Waututh’s Treaty, Lands and Resources Department is working alongside the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to restore cə́ləm (eelgrass). It’s part of the Port’s Habitat Enhancement Program and is now in the final phase of work for the Maplewood Marine Restoration Project.
Carleen Thomas – Next Chancellor at Emily Carr University of Art and Design
Tsleil-Waututh Nation elder Carleen Thomas is the first Indigenous person to be named as the next chancellor at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver.
Restoring the Health of Burrard Inlet
On behalf of myself, Chief Jen Thomas, and our newly elected Tsleil-Waututh Nation Council, as well as the Chiefs and Council Members that have come before us, and the staff of our Treaty, Lands and Resources Department, I signed an Agreement with Canada that is an Environmental Stewardship Agreement for the Burrard Inlet.
New Affordable Rental Housing Coming to TWN Reserve
A new 6-storey, 50-unit rental building is coming to our on reserve Tsleil-Waututh community.
TWN School Naming
On Friday June 18, our TWN School was blessed with receiving the traditional name siʔáḿθɘt (pronounced “si-om-phet”).
