Tsleil-Waututh Nation Council passed a Dog Control Bylaw that states:
- Dog owners must keep dogs on TWN public lands under control (for example, the dog will come immediately when called, will not harass another person or animal)
- Any dog with a history of unprovoked aggression towards a person or animal on TWN public lands must have a leash and muzzle
- Dog owners must clean up their pet’s excrement on TWN lands
Anyone who commits an offence under this bylaw can face a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 30 days imprisonment. A dog owner who has been issued a penalty under this bylaw can avoid court action by paying fees currently set at $100-$200.
