Job Summary:

The Housing Liaison under direction from the Operations Superintendent, facilitates the informal resolution of concerns of community members and, sometimes, external clients of the organization.

The Housing Liaison are to work with the Housing Department and community members to explore and assist them in determining options to help resolve conflicts, problematic issues or concerns, and to bring systemic concerns to the attention of the organization for resolution.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides confidential and informal assistance to the Housing Department and community members by listening to concerns, clarifying issues and interests, helping generate and evaluate options, providing information and referrals, facilitating conversations, and, in appropriate cases, serving as a mediator.
  • Assists in surfacing issues to formal resolution channels. When an individual is unable or unwilling to surface a concern directly, the Housing Liaison can assist by helping give voice to the concern and /or creating an awareness of the issue among appropriate decision-makers in housing or other departments within the TWN Organization
  • Identifies new issues and opportunities for systemic change for the organization. The unique positioning of the Housing Liaison serves to provide unfiltered information that can produce insight to issues and resolutions.
  • Will do wellness check with members on a regular basis, who need assistance with maintaining their homes and cleansings.

 

  • Work with members to coordinate move-outs and move-ins, bring in Social Workers and other Departments as needed,
  • Help with packing up and cleaning,
  • Assist in purchasing cleaning supplies and training members to clean and maintain their homes,

 

  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Computer skills – Minimal
  • Education – Grade 12 but could be education and experience if have less than Grade 12.
  • Experience – Experience working in difficult situations.
